The SFB 676 has been funded by the DFG from 2006 to 2018. The project was completed with a special colloquium in June 2018. A book with the scientific results of the SFB 676 has been published in September 2018.

Abstract

The principles of thermodynamics are based on a time independent dynamics. To arrive at a local thermodynamic interpretation of a state on a generic spacetime one compares expectation values of fields with those in homogeneous equilibrium states on Minkowski space. In this way local thermodynamical terms can be introduced. These quantities shall be investigated in perturbatively constructed models. The aim is a deeper understanding of thermodynamical aspects of cosmology.
